“TotallyToasty” Case Study
Proving Short Form Could Work
When we started working together, Totally Toasty had almost no short form presence.
Throughout his entire career, only a handful of short form videos had ever been posted. Unlike most creators, the challenge was not a lack of effort. It was the content itself.
His skits were designed for long form viewing, and there was a common belief that they simply would not translate well to short form. In fact, he did not even think there was a format that could make his content work on platforms like Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts.
After seeing the results I was producing for other creators, he decided to give it a shot.
Even if it was only for a month.
We started from scratch on Instagram and immediately began testing different ways to package the content for short form audiences while staying true to his style.
The results came much faster than anyone expected.
In less than two weeks, the Instagram page surpassed 2,000 followers, something that would have seemed completely unrealistic for a creator who had barely touched short form before.
The momentum carried over to YouTube as well.
By the end of the first month, the channel generated over 650,000 views from Shorts alone, making it the strongest Shorts month in the channel's history by a massive margin.
To put that into perspective, the channel was previously averaging around 15,000 to 25,000 Shorts views per month.
In just 28 days, that number increased by roughly 30 to 40 times.
What started as an experiment quickly became proof that even highly niche long form content can thrive on short form platforms when the right strategy is applied.
